Who we are

This website belongs to Geddes Electrics CC (Reg. 2009/132051/23) (“Geddes Electrics CC”, “we”, “us”). We are the responsible party for the personal information you give us, as set out in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

Only what we need to quote on and do your job:

  • Your name, phone number and, if you give it, your email address.
  • Your suburb or the address where the work is to be done.
  • What you tell us about the job, and any photos you send us.
  • Invoices, quotes and Certificates of Compliance linked to your property.
  • Basic, anonymous website statistics (pages visited, device type) if analytics is switched on. These do not identify you.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote.
  • To book, do and invoice the work.
  • To issue certificates and meet our legal and regulatory duties.
  • To follow up on work we have done, including guarantee claims.

We do not sell your information, and we do not send you marketing unless you have asked for it. You can tell us to stop at any time.

Who we share it with

Only with people who need it to get your job done or where the law requires it, for example a supplier delivering to site, our accountant, an insurer handling your claim or a government body. When you use the contact form, your message is sent through WhatsApp or your email app, so the privacy terms of that service also apply.

How long we keep it

We keep job records for as long as the law requires (for tax and electrical compliance this can be five years or more) and delete or destroy them safely after that. Enquiries that do not become a job are deleted within 12 months.

How we protect it

Records are kept on password-protected devices and accounts, and paper records are kept locked away. Only the people who need your information to do the work can see it.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and ask for a copy.
  • Ask us to correct or delete information that is wrong or no longer needed.
  • Object to us using your information, including for marketing.
  • Complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za or inforegulator.org.za.

This website does not use advertising cookies. If website statistics are switched on, Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits anonymously. You can block cookies in your browser settings and the site will still work.
